Rumor Roundup: HTC One M9

New year and new smart phones. It is that time of the year again to talk about some of the most anticipated smart phone devices. HTC One M9 is one of the hottest devices to be launched in 2015 so lets talk about it.

HTC One M8 that came out last year is already one of the most well liked phones of 2014 and its also one of the most popular. It continued to drive the conversation about build quality among smart phones with that aluminum unibody design and of course my favorite, the BoomSound™ front facing speakers.

HTC One M9 Design Change

You can expect the next-generation HTC One to keep a lot of what made HTC One M8 so popular like the metal and those dope front facing speakers. With phones getting so much bigger and screens getting huge with every release of smart phones, can HTC make the screen bigger on HTC One M9 without making the phone huge? To answer this question, we actually have (thanks to some pretty trust worthy looking leaks) a super clear look at HTC One M9 design.

Right off the back you are going to notice that it is still all metal design but the physical buttons have been moved along to right. Now you have two-volume buttons with power button that are not on their usual place. All the buttons are on the right side which should make it easier to reach and use the device with one hand especially since this phone would still be a bit slippery with that aluminum design.

HTC One M9 Metal Design

Aside from the back of the phone, those button changes seem to be the biggest design change between the One M8 and the M9. Which I guess is a good thing if you already like the current design.

A lot of the complaints that you hear about the HTC One M8 is its camera. Actually HTC One M8 has one of the most polarizing camera in all the smart phones, because some really love it but a lot of them think it’s the biggest weakness of this smart phone so they would not buy it. They have been stuck with the Ultra Pixels since HTC One M7 which is a 4 megapixel sensor which in theory should do very well in low light but in real life the pictures came out were just okay not something like oh-my-photons thing. People did get some really good photos out of it but it was like a hit or miss most of the times.

HTC One M9 Camera Module

The interesting thing is that HTC One M9 is rumored to have a 20 megapixel camera. So they are moving away from Ultra Pixels for some good reason or maybe not. We’ll see. The new HTC One M9 is going to be have the same sony sensors that we have seen in the sony Xperia series which are capable of producing extremely nice looking photos and videos and 4k videos too. It’s a bigger mega-pixel count but I have liked to see an 8 megapixel sensor with actually bigger pixels like iPhone does their thing but I think a lot of people would be Ok with them going full on 20.0 mega pixels hoping that it’s really really good.

Some people mentioned that the camera module is not very pretty.

With these improvements, HTC has decided to go with Snapdragon 810 or 805 chip, 3GB of RAM, 2840mAh battery, Android 5.0 Lollipop (hopefully with a light version of HTC Sense), a 5-inch display which is going to be 1080p.

Overall this is going to ship a really impressive looking phone and one of the most anticipated in 2015. Might not be changing a lot with the design. It is going to be released in March. Let us know what you guys think of this phone? Is going to be a hit or miss?
